During the General Assembly the following contact information
is also useful for mailing or calling your legislators while they are
in Indianapolis :
Indiana House of Representatives

Indiana State Senate
200 W. Washington Street
Indianapolis, IN 46204-2785
The Indiana Assembly is now back in session and will continue into April this year. Setting the budget for the next two years is the top priority although other issues such as hate crime legislation, Dept. of Child Services increased needs, legalization of marijuana, etc. will possibly also be discussed.
Of special interest to our association will be funding for an increase to our annual stipend ( 13th check) or possible COLA, and an increase in the salaries for current teachers. Indiana currently ranks 31st out of the 50 states in teacher average pay and is below our five neighboring states of Illinois, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, and Wisconsin. Although there is recognition of these facts, the early indications out of Indianapolis do not appear to provide a high expectation for substantial improvement.
