As a result of the General Election last November I believe the contact information for our Elkhart County state representatives and senators listed below remains the same.  The Indiana General Assembly is back in session starting in early January and this years's "long session" is scheduled to end by April 29, 2025.

The top priority of this session is to prepare and complete the next two year budget for the state.  Our leadership at IRTA will explain and lobby for the establishment of a "date certain" vote that implements the concept of annual "13th check" and or COLA payments to retired educators.  Please respond to email notices from Laura Penman, IRTA Ex. Director, when she requests your help in encouraging our members to contact their legislators to vote in our favor on this topic.

In the mean time, those who receive social security benefits may have noticed a 2.5% increase in their January payment.  Hopefully we will receive a "boost " in our pension benefit as well.
